Song-A-Long
Music plays in my head all the time. My “Inner DJ” (chakra 5) subconsciously mixes a soundtrack bizarrely relevant to my life. Usually the songs relate in some insightful way to whatever I’m doing in the moment - often involving a play on words or a random refrain. For example while visiting the ill-fated historic Jamestowne Settlement, I hear Monte Python sing, “Always look on the bright side of death, just before you draw your terminal breath..”
Since beginning to work consciously with lifeforce energy, I’ve become increasingly perceptive, and sometimes feel incidental things painfully deeply. Hearing a pop song with a crappy message feels jarring and then can rattle inside my brain like an earworm.
So, why not give the Inner DJ an intentional playlist to work with?!
My Playlist
Using a subscription music service, I’ve created a personal queue of songs with messages that resonate with me. Currently it's over 6 hours long with 188 selections, and I find myself listening to it daily. Songs on my highly eclectic list include: Dust in the Wind (Kansas), Don’t Stop Me Now (Queen), Love is Still the Answer (J Mraz), Life’s a Dance (JM Montgomery), My Favorite Things (J Andrews), And She Was (Talking Heads), Row Row Row Your Boat (traditional), My Sweet Lord (G Harrison), Chasing the Sun (S Bareilles), Not Afraid (Eminem), Runnin’ Down a Dream (T Petty)..
Particularly helpful uses:
re-centering my energy after intense sessions with clients, going into a big box store, or getting rattled by the news
bringing my energy up when I’m feeling sluggish
playing aloud during outdoor bike rides and runs, without earbuds for safety
Just a few of the many benefits:
to convey insights, my Inner DJ has a richer, more nuanced selection of songs to choose from
intentional repetition of songs reinforces my personal “vibe” of internal messages via words & feelings
neurons that “fire together, wire together” creating meaningful positive associations with activities, such as running & cycling
singing out loud while vigorously working-out increases the capacity of my lungs, sharing my joy with others and eliciting smiles (and eye rolls) as I pass by.. 😉

Note: I’ve attached a link to my personal playlist on YouTube Music below, but to protect my privacy it’s behind the “paid subscriber” wall. The good news is that it is just $5 to access my “deeper” material for a month. 🌈
